Comments about Travel Scale:
It cost too much for the button to not work in converting kg to lbs.

A good product, with reservations
It is very hard to say, "effective" or not "effective". It is the only product on the market I could find that does what it does. That said. On the plus side It is small. Very light. And reasonably priced. On the negative side, it reads (only) in Kg's to one decimal point. That means you have to convert each reading if you want to know pounds, which I think most Americans do. It also means it is less accurate, compared to a scale that reads in pounds. I've checked it against my bathroom scale which is reliable to a 10th of a pound. I want a travel scale that is realiable to, at least, a 1/2 a pound. It takes getting used to to get a reliable reading, but I could do it. If I continue to get reliable measurments, that's all I need.It is very small and light. That's good. But it is also very hard for me to stand on to get a reading. You have to pretty much stand on the balls of your feet on a slightly tippy scale. That might contribute to some of its unreliability. But with a little practice I definitely got much better. If I were to improve this product I would widen it about an inch and a half. And I would put a switch on it that could change the readout from lbs. to Kg. I hope this company continues to make a product like this particularly if they improve it. It is the only scale out there for people who watch their weight on vacation or long business trips. It's very hard to answer whether I would recommend it or not to a friend. It depends on the accuracy/reliability they required and how big (heavy and/or tall) they are. I would guess it is more difficult with large feet and a heavy person But you know websites. They like all or nothing questions. I will answer yes, because most people are not as tall as I am (6' 1") nor are their feet size 11. And I would guess most people would find plus or minus a half a pound acceptable accuracy.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
